I have just begun my last semester in college. Oh my. It’s pretty crazy! As I sat in classes this week, I tried to take everything in, engraining things in my mind so I can remember for years and years. I know that if this semester is anything like last semester, it’s going to fly by and all of the sudden I will be moving on from all of this. So I must take it slow, day-by-day, and just enjoy.

Well, I have some photos from the last day of Christmas break! I spent my last day of break with Kevin. We went to Wealthy Street Bakery and did some wedding plans. We ate at a hotdog place that both of us have never been to before! And we started and finished our search for a home. But more on that later! 🙂

I’ve been on a baking hiatus.

There are lots of reasons for this, but the fact of the matter is… I’m back!

Today, I made chocolate chip cookies. Yep, just normal chocolate chip cookies but let me tell you, I was just so happy. I forgot what baking does to me! I stood in my two foot wide kitchen, stirring and thinking, I hope that I love baking for the rest of my life. I hope that I have more time in the future to bake. I hope I have a family to bake for. Like, little kids. So I can make yummy little treats for them.

Also, on another note.

I have been blasting Christmas music today. Yeah, it may be a little early, I will admit. But hey, it makes me happy and I’m excited so I will not stop.

I’m wearing my Christmas PJ’s to bed these days too.

It’s great.

It won’t be long that this season will be over and we will be starting preparations for next Christmas!!! (Yes, like how they do it in ELF!)

Anyway, this all relates you see. This baking today has got me thinking about all the baking I am going to do!  Christmas is a coming, and it will be a wonderful time to BAKE! I want to bake all sorts of things when I go home for Christmas break. So, I am going to start compiling my baking concoctions and be prepared. 🙂

Hi!

I’m in a random, funny mood. So I will just preface this post by saying that.

Tonight, I painted my nails. Haven’t had them painted in a while folks, and boy did I miss it. They’re grey. Yeah… grey! Don’t be hatin’. It looks good.

I painted my nails while studying. And chewing bazooka gum. Yes, you can do all three at once and it sure is fun. 🙂 I’ll let you know how the exam goes… ha.

I can’t wait for the day when I don’t have to study. Can I just say that? Ok. Just did.

Now, onto a more important note.

I have been in love with this song. And so, I am going to share it. Do you know Josh Garrels? If you don’t, you should. Give him a listen!

Hi friends.

I just came home from the library on-campus. I’m munching on some popcorn now.

I wanted to tell you about my latest photography endevours. You see, a while ago now I had this idea… more like a dream… of becoming a photographer. A good one.  Maybe even a professional one. I had this dream and it seemed very attainable at first thought. I knew I had a lot to learn, and I knew I would at least try. I put away my point and shoot camera and got my hands on a DSLR (a fancy one). Not until this summer did I begin to learn the basics of photography. Now, I am in full manual mode, there is no going back to automatic. I’m in a photography class that requires this, along with other tough challenges to a photo newbie. Most days in class, I feel like I am way over my head. But sometimes, (on a good day) I feel a little spark inside me, something driving me to have motivation and confidence that I can really create a beautiful image.

I guess I didn’t realize how much of an art photography is.

And how hard it is!

Seriously people, it is not easy.

So I ‘spose I just want to say that I give the photographers out there way more credit. (That means you Jenn Anibal, Bobbi and Mike, Bryan and Mae, Jillian Bowes, Beth Fletcher… all my favorites, duh!)

I am going to share my progress with you. This semester I am dedicating myself to this art. I am still working on that dream, only with the expectation that I will improve over time.

and just for fun… 🙂

This summer was GREAT, no doubt about that. It was filled with moments that I will remember throughout the year, the ones that will get me through the dead of winter.

I’ve been thinking lately about time… how fast it goes, how I don’t seem to have enough of it, how I take it for granted. I had a lot of time this summer. I spent my days freely, usually without a schedule or plan. It was such a nice change of pace. And then a few weeks ago, it all slipped out of my fingers again. That’s how life is though… change of course… change of responsibilities.  Now I’m back at it. It’s already move-in week for housing, which is the craziest best week of the year!

Before I move on and get into all the new stuff, I wanted to share some photos from this summer that I haven’t been able to share. These are a few of my favorite summer moments captured. 🙂

Like I said, life has quickly moved from laid-back and carefree to work and preparation for the year! I am living downtown this year… right next to the train and Pew campus. It’s wonderful. Part of me misses Allendale (I lived there for the past 3 years!). But this is a whole new adventure. Through all of this, I am learning how to stay positive even in challenging times and how to trust in God more and more. After all, His ways are better than mine.

So long summer. I’m ready for a good year.

I want to tell you a story. It’s about a dream. Finding something good and true. Love.

It’s our story.

When Kevin and I met on a mission trip more than two years ago, I never would have thought to find my future husband. I was young (still am!) and not into dating seriously. Little did I know, God had something different in mind for me.

[Kevin and I in Mescalero, NM]

Fast forward to now… God has blessed my life with a beautiful, loving relationship. He has answered my prayers, calmed my fears, and has provided me one of life’s greatest gifts. The gift of love and someone to share life with. A couple weeks ago, my world was turned upside down, a distant dream turning into a reality. Kevin proposed to me, much to my delight!!! Even as I share this, reliving the joy of being able to say “YES! I want to spend the rest of my life with you!!!,” I cannot believe that it actually happened!

But it did happen! I have these pictures to remind me, the gorgeous ring on my finger to remind me, and of course the man who I cannot wait to marry to remind me. 🙂

Kevin, thank you for sharing life with me, loving me, and being my one and only. You are more than I ever dreamed of.

Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible- it cannot be seen or measured- yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession ever could. –Barbara De Angelis

My dad and I took a trip to Ludington.

Ludington is a place my family enjoys. We love it there! My mom and dad lived there for years and my brothers were born there. We have frequented the state park and other campgrounds, seen my parent’s old apartment & schools they taught at, and have grown fond of the house of flavors & miniature golf right next to the beautiful lake Michigan. I love going to places such as these, they are like home away from home. Familiar sights, smells, and people. 😀 It’s wonderful.

My dad and I headed to Ludington, camped for a night and ran the Lakestride 5k. It was a nice change of pace, from schoolwork, to dreadful exams, to studying more. We read a little, sat by a campfire (and I roasted a mallow!!!), curled up in sleeping bags, ran along the lake and took in God’s beauty of Northern Michigan.

Here are some pics from our adventure.

Gotta love it.

Gorgeous. I was kinda sad it wasn’t beach weather, but I still got to be near the beach at least!

One thing I love about camping? Life sloooooows down.

If I had kids, I would make them pose on this adorable kiddie picnic table. For now though, just a great photo! Love the yellow.

Run time.

My dad and I, after the race. We even got medals. I felt so accomplished!

Oh, hey. I like to run (sometimes ;)).

Well, it’s been a nice long weekend. Can’t complain about that. I realize that I missed Saturday Sweets this weekend. Umm, no excuse really. BUT. Next Saturday? Get ready and tune in for something fantastic!!!

This morning, I woke up and went for a run. The sun was already high in the sky, and I was sweating bullets. Now I am home, freshened up, coffee drank, pics edited for this post, Jack Johnson singing in the background. I love spending time the way I wish to spend it. Later today, my time will be spent memorizing psychological disorders. I have an exam tomorrow to study for. Only THREE more weeks of class. I am counting down like never before.

Between classes and studying 90% of the time, I try to keep life fun! I especially love to capture these everyday, fun moments. And I am working on my photography, so taking pics means sharing them with you!

Kevin and I took a day-trip to Kalamazoo. It was a great day of lunch at Kev’s favorite restaurant, walking around downtown, and spending time with family. Here are some pics from our day:

The past two weekends have been filled with wedding goodness. First, Jonathan and Annie got married! And then, Dan and Grace! Congrats, friends! 🙂

Thanks for reading! Enjoy this sunny, warm memorial day! Coming soon– You Capture: games.

This past week, I did my best at capturing some outdoor pictures. I even went on a couple walks outside with the intent of getting some good ones. I’m loving on some spring weather… the sun is shining, trees and flowers are blooming, and summer is on it’s way! Woohoo!

Have a look and see for yourself 😀

This last one may or may not really fit into the “outside” category but hey, who could resist a pup like this? World, meet Snickers. He will be mentioned on my blog a lot this summer because we spend quality time together everyday. He’s the best.

Happy Spring! And Happy May!

Pink used to be my favorite color. I was all about it… now, not so much. But I still had enough pink in my life to participate in You Capture this week! I am actually really excited about these photos because I thought I wouldn’t have any pink to capture at all! And I thought I wouldn’t have time, considering that it is exam week. Ha, yeah, well beat that exams!

Pink toes and my favorite pink blanket, while studying.

Pink light.

Studying hard in the lounge with pink streamers.

Pink umbrella and my friend, Kate. 🙂 (my favorite pink photo)

As I write this post, I am eating a delish veggie bagel sandwich from einsteins. Oh, einsteins, I love you. My sandwich is not pink, otherwise I would post a picture of it. This sandwich reminds me of my good friend Danielle, who is in Thailand right now! 🙂 One time, Danielle got this sandwich when we went to lunch and I said, “hey that looks like a good sandwich.” So now I get it and I think of her every time. Funny how you remember things like that.

Now I am done with my non-pink sandwich so I better not delay my studying anymore. I have my last political science exam in about FIVE hours and I will feel so so so relieved after that.

Thanks for reading!
